Nassau was a State that was around for about 60Years from 1806 to 1866 and was made up by part of the States Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen. The badge you have has the Lion symbol for the State Flag of Nassau and the Helmet with the 2 Axes, which are the symbols for a Fire Department. This badge is for the Nassauer Fire Association (made up by several Fire Departments) that was founded in 1872. “Gott zur Ehr dem Naechsten zur Wehr”, In Gods Honor protect your next Mankind!
