I recently purchased a lot of Imperial Navy post cards. This was folded up in between the cards. Can anyone identify it for me? The cards were from the estate of a German Navy veteran.

Thanks...

Ron,

Though I'm in no way certain as to what the purpose of that band/ribbon might have been,
I'll venture a guess...

I don't think it was for a cufftitle as the material looks too lightweight, like that of a medal or award. Much too small for a cap-tally, even for a child's uniform? Perhaps it could have been attached over a cap-tally to disguise the identity of the ship or detatchment that the owner would have belonged to..? Maybe nothing more than a military-influenced style
of book mark?

No matter whay purpose it may have served it certainly is interesting.

Would there be a chance that you could share some of your naval postcards with us?

Thanks!

Bill

HI Bill,

It has been identified as a Freikorps unit medal ribbon for " Med Eiserne Division".

I would be happy to share some of the cards when time permits. I also have a collection of Weimar Reicheer photos.

Here are a couple...

Thanks for your response.

If of interest? I can post many more Reichswehr, Imperial and Keiserliche Marine photos on the appropriate forum.

My primary interest is Imperial and Reichswher unit marked Lugers.

Thanks again...

Ron,

Thanks for posting the nice photos, I especially like the first one. That's some monster truck those boys have there!

That's also some arsenal you've put together there. Sure you can post photos of those beauties here ... do you think you could share a few of your favorites?

Best regards!

Bill

Bill,

The truck is marked to the 9th Battery 7th Kraftwagon Artillery Regiment.

A point of interest in the photo. Look closely under the truck, just in front of the far rear wheel. You can make out a puddle just next a bicycle wheel. A bicycle trooper evidently couldn't wait any longer for the photographer.
