Thought I'd share this little grouping I picked up.
The gentleman in the postcard is supposedly the original owner of these items, am trying to verify. Will likely be parting with some of this stuff, I'd hate to break it up if this is a true grouping.I'll be posting the backs of these postcards in the translation forum.

Any thoughts welcome. How about that medal bar, about as stone mint as possible - Am hoping it is not too good to be true.

Skynyrd,

I'd be pretty jazzed if I were you ... Wink
that looks like a superb, original Oldenburg grouping to me!

These days nice sets like this are very difficult to find - wish I had something nice to trade you for it. Big Grin

Many thanks for sharing your fine photographs!

A few more to round out this grouping.
Looks like the 2 place medal bar lost a medal [maybe the loose Kyffhäuser?].

Yeah I am jazzed. I was planning on selling some of it to get back some investment, and keeping some.
But damn, I'd hate to be the one to bust it up.
On the other hand, I suppose its inevitable that someday it will.
So I think I'll sit on it a while and contemplate.
I got the backs of the post cards posted in the translation forum if any German speakers can translate, doubt if theres much of substance there.

Skynyrd, very nice grouping. I especially like the miniature award chain.
Could the group be for two individuals I wonder?

Yes indeed, the mini chain is a beauty.
I am unfortunately compelled to part with most of this.
Hard to determine exactly whats what, I think unquestionably this is not a grouping of one individual.

Your two place medal bar with the missing medal could be from Baden. First ribbon looks close to the Karl Friedrich Merit Order Cross or Merit Medal while the second looks like the Golden Jubilee Medal 1902. Source is here http://www.ordensmuseum.de/adl/bander.htm.

Cheers
