Hello...I am interested in bidding on this buckle....anyone find any problems with it?

What price ranges have you seen them sell for? I must say they seem to be very hard to find,or I'm looking in the wrong places...Here is the link.

Thanks for your help

Sepp,

At first glance it looks good as far as construction, however, it doesn't match any of my Freikorps reference patterns exactly. This may or may not be a problem..? Possibly Masons? I see there's not much time left for the auction to end - unless someone who really knows these things comes along and gives you a definitive answer you may just want to "play-safe" and let it pass? Sorry I can't be more precise. Let us know your thoughts, is it worth taking a chance? There seems to be a lot of interest, not always a good indicator??

Best of luck.

Bill...Thanks for your reply...also looks good to me,but I to have looked in many books, and searched the net as well, but can't find one that is the same.

I am guessing the way the bidding is going...I think it will sell for well over 200 dollars the price is not stopping me,not finding one like it is. Again Bill thanks for your help

Sepp,

As you said, $267 final price. I think I'd rather have one of the known patterns or a good Braunschweig buckle, which in my eyes is a real beauty.

I'm of the opinion that if I can't be sure of something on my own or have a close, knowledgeable friend to advise me, I'll shy away. I think it's better to hold on to the money until just the right one comes along.
I'm glad to see we're of like mind on that. Smile

Best regards and good hunting with your buckles!

Bill

Fellas,

Ha, here I thought it was over at $267! That guy would have been much better off buying some decent reference books with that money. Big Grin

To each his own ... Wink
