That is normal, there were only 2 makers of this rare dagger: Eickhorn and Hörster, but you will only find their RZM marks on these daggers: RZM M7-66 ans RZM M7-36.
Be careful if you want to buy, there are many abvious fakes but also some very good ones.

Best greetings,

Herman

Here's a thread on a maker marked Eickhorn which seemed to be viewed as a fake.

http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/427101702/...260073394#5260073394

It would be interesting if you could post some good, large and clear closeups of yours.

Regards

I don't own one but have seen some originals. The one in the thread has not been proven to be a fake. These are believed to be early pieces-possibly prototypes. ANY Eickhorn HJ leader is extremely rare.

Correct Houston, which is why I said 'seemed to be viewed as a fake".

It would be most interesting to explore this further, and hopefully get some good pics of thor62's example for a comparison.

From these pics, I notice a different angle of the rope pattern on the upper scabbard fitting on the reverse side, and smooth leather on the scabbard. Also the angles of the lines on the pommel.

Beneath other features the overlaping border of the pommel and the shape of the grip are well known features for fakes.

I have never seen an Eickhorn squirrel on an original HJ Leader yet, but I believe a senior like Houston.
If anyone has an unquestionable example to show, it would be very educative.

Best greetings,

Herman

I had one of the Eichorn trademark HJ Leaders walk into one of my hotel buys around 12 years ago, i was not able to buy it. It also had a soft leather scabbard, there was no doubt about it being original.
thanks
Bob
