Is there such a thing as a HJ Bayonet?
I have seen a few on some sites, but they look to new to be from the period.

Yes there is such a thing as an HJ bayonet. However, most of the ones you see for sale are fakes.

Sorry to tell this, but even Mr. Wittmann has sold me a few years ago an fake HJ Wachgefolgschafsbajonet....
It was a original Extraseitengewehr from Puma with a glued HJ-emblem, with a magnifier easy to see. On his site discribed as "factory placed emblem"! It was not necessary to ask my dentist to make a X-ray.
He has take it back, but did't pay me back all cost of MC, postage etc. This "joke" has cost me about 150 euro/200 US-dollars.

Be careful, and ask lifetime guarantee and ask your dentist if he can make an x-ray.

I have only seen ONE I considered real in over 55 years of looking. It was a short Puma with wide fuller.
I would say 99% are fake. ALL aspects of such a bayonet must be thoroughly examined.

ORPO is quite right. Such items arean attractive nuisance in this hobby & cost a lot of people good money only to find out their "out of the woodwork" piece is postwar altered. Most of the fakes of this type I've seen were poorly done & easily proved fake with a simple in hand inspection, however there are decent fakes out there with well cut out grips & postwar rehilted grips. With such a piece, even a dentist's X-ray will be useless. You'll also see some that are Pack marked with spanner nut grips which present an obvious problem too. Sad to say but chances are if you see one of these pieces, it's bad.

I collect hj knifes ect & have never came across a genuine hj bayo yet, all i have seen are faked hj bayos as mentioned by Billy G. if anyone has a genuine hj bayo please post some pix here please thanks............Regards Scott.
