Hello Stingray,

More pictures of the blade are needed to be 100% sure, but it looks like a modified early regular blade with an erased motto to me.

Best greetings,

Herman

Doesn't look like an original Bowie Knife blade HJ to me.

Ron, have you seen any other bowie blades you consider to be original apart from WKC?

Stingray, Ron,

Here is one that I believe to be an original bowie blade:

On first view, the blade appears to be cut out of a regular blade:

But if that would have been the case, than the makersmark would not have been centered on the ricasso...

This Robert Klaas mark is nicely centered:

Best greetings,

Herman

Klaas made MANY different short models POSTWAR. Some have the fake small HJ Diamond in the grip, even smaller version than the one shown.
As to the wartime WKC marked and unmarked blades, the Knight's Head was positioned so low on the ricasso that it was under the crossguard on some of the unmarked bowie style blades and could not be seen unless the washer was removed.

Very interesting Ron. Do you have an example your could show with the low ricasso marking?

Interesting Ron,

So in your opinion, Klaas made again HJ knifes with HJ diamond after the war?

Robert Klaas, a German company, just continued to make nazi items after the war?
Must have been very risky business... When did that happen in your opinion?

Best greetings,

Herman

Herman, can you tell if the ricasso has been shaped, or was it made this way?

Regards

Here's a couple pictures of a post-war Klaas that I think illustrates Ron's point

Which brings me to my clip-point HJ. It is an RZM blade that has been sharpened, and also reshaped at the point. I am not sure about the originality of the grips and the diamond is definitely not good. The diamond appears to have been glued in and does not wiggle. There is also a crack in the grip at the top of the diamond from the pressure of the poorly fitted diamond.

DCR,

Very interesting, your Klaas bowie style knife with "Klaas diamand". Is it marked on the reverse ricasso?

Russ,

Sorry, I only saw your question now: the ricasso was shaped this way, because the stamped mark is positioned nicely in the middle

Best greetings,

Herman

Herman, I no longer have the Klaas but as I remember it was marked on the reverse with the Kissing Cranes.
