OK one last (really) thing before I get ready to prepare for a knock down drag out court fight on behalf of a truly innocent guy (they do exist believe it or not!)
You have an early maker mark and also an RZM number. Fairly common right? How many times have you seen the RZM number not correspond to the early maker? I have an Eickhorn that is marked by Horster's RZM number and I have two Carl Wusthof's that are marked with a Herder number. My theory (and its just a theory) a manufacturer runs out of blades on an order and calls the guy next door to borrow a few. I confess I do not memorize the majority of the maker numbers but for my favorites ( I don't memorize the entire criminal penal code either that is why I buy the books) but I just about bet that I have passed up several transitionals that the makers don't match on until I got wise enough to carry the list. I found two like this since I bought one from Bill. They are very rare but not unheard of as I thought when I bought that first one and paid well for ( and would do again). We all need to pay attention and realize no one making these knives ever thought anyone would give a hoot 63+ years later. Keep an open mind and you shall find. Russ To be rather then to seem |

Just thought I would being this back up and report a little new info. Special thanks to a member who assisted me in acquiring an E & F Horster rzm'ed to Klass. Also another member contacted me who had found an early Boker rzm'ed to E & F Horster like the example I have. Maybe this variation is more common that anyone realized and we just haven't paid attention. I have found these with Boker/Horster, Horster/Klass & Wustoff/Herder. anyone else have anthing??? Russ

My hj is stamped M7/12 1940 on the ricasso & has the Ed Wusthof trademark stamped on the blade but M7/12 isnt the RZM number for Wusthof its for maker Carl Robert Kaldenbach or its duplicate RZM# Waffenfabrik Max Weyersberg, So maybe old Wusthof ran out of blades & borrowed some from either company? .........Regards Scott.

Wusthof logo on the blade as well as the wrong RZM# on the opposite Ricasso.

Could be the RZM numbers changed (were reassigned) for some reason from one year to the next.

Interesting Nacho your knife is dated 1939 & mine is dated 1940 with the same RZM M7/12 but it should be M7/19
Regards Scott. |

I hadd noticed too, maybe Mr Wusthof bought blades from Mr Weyersberg as a rule? Regards
