I have noticed that some police bayo knots have a fabric strap and some have a leather strap. Are leather ones earlier knots? I also have seen a NCO knot that had the same type of strap as the officers' knot. Any thoughts and preferences on this?

I don't know if there is a distinction between the leather or cloth strap Polizei knots. I do prefer the cloth ones, probably because I find them easier to work with in getting a nice wrap on a frog.

I suspect the leather stap type is earlier because I have seen some very early ones with early ball inserts --only in leather. There are also a few that have plastic like straps-probably late.

I love the leather knots....
