Unidentified hangers. Well.....unidentified by me anyway.

A good friend just sent these to me. I have never seen a set like this before & I can`t see anything like them in my reference books. Nicely Assmann marked but what they are for???

A shame that the other adler pin has gone astray but they sure are very exotic in appearance. Beats me! Confused

Well--they seem to be basically Heer with green felt backs and the addition of those eagles.( one missing ) Are they sewn together under the buckles? Can you get a side shot of the buckle/snap construction?

Houston, There does not seem to be anything suspicious in the construction compared to my other hangers & the hardware is the typical gold washed "General Officers" of which I have two others. I assume therfore that they are heer related. The gold bullion of the straps is curious to say the least. Felt backing passes black light & it would seem that the adler`s were pinned during construction.

Original hangers are usually sewn together under the buckles. It's a red flag if they don't have this feature.
The bullion on the straps has a copper look unless it's the photo. Now if you rub regular silver bullion hanger straps the copper color will show as they are really silver plate. This is another red flag to me.
I have never seen "pinned on" eagles on hangers. Seems a bit "too much"--red flag.
The green felt is a bit too bright of a green and felt was not usually used-red flag.

So--these could be special order General rank hangers or its just the color in the photos--but I doubt it.

Another thing is that the gold on any General Rank gold hanger should be tested with lacquer thinner. If the gold comes off it is not original. If this is the case here that would be conclusive without a doubt.

Thank you for your opinion. I do understand your skepticism.

To answer a couple of the points raised; the bullion is gold & not copper coloured. That is just the harshness of the flash & the patina of the surface. When I moved the slider up just now there is a very significant difference in colour where they have not been exposed. These are certainly old, but just how old is of course impossible to determine.

I do find it difficult to see any logical purpose for them being contrived though. Fantasy hangers? Unfortunately it isn`t possible to check & see if the adler pin has any markings as it is very securely fixed. What a pity the other one wasnt Big Grin
