Would like to get some opinions about this hanger: or it is in super condition or it is a reproduction... Let me know what you think and why. Thanks in advance.

Herman,
The things I see that might be out of place: -The stitching on the keeper. You do not normally see the two stitches that close. -I am not used to seeing the "L2" markings on SA dagger hangers. Usually it is NSKK. -Look at the leather where it loops through the carrying ring. It goes straight across as if it has never been used. In ones that were used, the leather is bent to conform with the ring. See below Take it off, put it in a plastic bag overnight, the open the bag quickly and smell. If it smells of leather, it is probably newer than it looks. Dave |

Serge and Dave,
Thank you for your inputs. I took the hanger off the dagger and took a few extra shots. See below. More input is more than welcome. Best greetings, Herman "Het leven is een strijd!" ![]() |

I see a 39 dated RZM hanger with what appears to be solid nickel buckle and clip on a dagger with an early anodised scabbard. Also as Dave points out it doesnt appear to have taken the weight of the dagger yet the scabbard show usual wear. Also agree with Daves comment on the stitches in the keeper but that dont make it wrong. If it passes the smell test I would say parts piece made of ill matching period parts by 39 metal bits would be plated. If it dont pass the smell test period fitting on newer leather.Theres just no carry wear on the leather which makes me think in any case its not original to the dagger.Who is the dagger by?

Check if the metal bits are magnetic as on reviewing not sure about my comment on them being nickel ones.If magnetic and the leather passes the smell test you probably have a minty RZM hanger that would be best paired with a minty RZM dagger

I see no problems. This is not a nickle snap. I agree the stitching is a bit close on the slide but I still think its OK.

Herman, it looks good to me. All the parts and style and markings seem to conform to a 1939 RZM. Dave's got a good idea on the "smell" test. If it doesn't pass that it would be the best fake I have yet to see.
I think I have the same maker hanger on a dagger. I'll have to check. -serge- |

I cannot say anything about the snap or the buckle.
Look at the little keepers above - correct ![]() |

Hello AJ,
The dagger is an early Gust. Haker. I will post a couple of pictures in the SA forum when I get the time. Thank you for asking and for your input. Best greetings, Herman "Het leven is een strijd!" |

On later RZM hangers there were variations compared to earlier examples. One of those differences was the "Keeper Loop". It was narrower than the earlier versions and had the stiches closer together.
This is the style that the fakers commonly use and one way to tell them. However they are taken direct from period RZM examples. -serge- |

Any RZM marks on the buckle?
(the back) not the clip. I have a couple with the same leather mark and minute RZM numbered buckles. Seiler (Yank in UK) |
