Exactly, I can't find this maker in my reference books and it's not posted on the GDC reference maker marks gallery either. Well, we know one thing, they made razors. Thanks Smile

It looks post war due to the "Germany" on it. I could not find it anywhere either. Pretty nice razor though!

MJ,

Sorry I won't be able to shed any light on this for you except for one little tidbit. Many of the Solingen-based firms contracted export orders under many different names and registrations. I'd imagine some of them are extremely hard to track down without
checking official Solingen documents. The tidbit is the name "Bartmann," which literally translates to
"beard-man." Smile

Mark,

I believe that "Germany" was used to identify export
goods from the latter half of the 19th century up until 1945. I'd say it would be tough finding things marked likewise once the war broke out in Sep. 1939.
I'm not saying that anything found post-1945 couldn't be marked "Germany," but I'd say the chances are greater that it would be marked, "West Germany."

Best regards!

Bill
