Has anyone besides me here in Germany seen these portraits of SS and Heer officers done in oil painting? They are also stamped on the back with the NSDAP eagle and dated. I recently found 2 in an antique shop. One is of a Obersturmbahnführer and one of a Heer officer(not sure what rank). Both were stamped (with eagle and swastika) as being painted in 1943, are in fairly good condition, and are 200€ each.

Can anyone tell me more about these? I would like to purchase them but don't want to get ripped off on fakes. What should I look for in them and what are the going prices on these?

Sd,

I am seeing a lot of these, im not big on stampings in regards to paintings, or art in general. However, even if you discount it as modern and its an oil and you like it, I would see no reason to spend 200.00. An original oil from a listed or recognized artist of the period, contingent on subject matter and quality, which is night and day, will set you back a considerable amount of money. I recently saw a large oil military/equestrian scene that literally blew me away, I am honestly thankful it was not for sale, as I would have dug deep for that.

Best,

Kris
