Two items:

Photo Bucket is randomly going into my pictures and deleting items with swastikas on them... Anyone else having that problem ???

Second I took the item to the jeweller and it is made of 8 Carat Gold (usually only seen in europe). So it could be real..... nothing that says it can't be, at this point !

Could also be a Canadian or US charm from the 20's or 30's.
If you look in old Eaton's catalogs you can find similar pieces.

Try making your profile "private" in options, could be that some do gooder is reporting you.
I doubt if pb combs through the 1,000,000's of photos on a whim. Like ebay, they rely on reports from "concerned citizens".

I don't think your charm has any connection to the Third Reich.
If it does, its a private purchase and, as such, has little collecting value to those into militaria,as there really is no way to prove it.

Saying that it came from a guy who has alot of real Nazi stuff, or it came from a friends grandfather who was in the battle of the buldge, likewise does no good to sway educated opinions.
"Buy the item, not the story" is a phrase which all collectors must follow, or end up in grief.

Further to "Newbie" ,,, And I have a feeling you may regret choosing that name some day ,,, If you have convinced yourself it is a genuine period item, thats fine.
Trick is, is to convince others.

You could put it in sales, and claim its Hitlers personal good luck charm, kept in his pocket every day since the Beerhall Putsch ,, With a low, low asking price of $10,000.
Obviously, no one would give it a second thought, for $10,000 or even $10, without some kind of reasoned proof.

Most of us have heard hours of stories behind the items ,,, Many of them just like yours.
"well it came from a guy who really knows his stuff so it must be good!"
It just doesn't wash.
Even if true, what am I supposed to tell the guy I may sell it to some day ?
That I got it from a guy who said he got it from some guy who really knows his stuff ?
As you can see, it doesn't go very far down the chain before the story fades to complete irrelevance - So, we tend to nip it in the bud, and stop the story right in its tracks.
Proof & facts is all we are interested in - The onus is on you to prove its good, not on us to prove its bad.
Often, things never do get rectified one way or the other, and remain a mystery.
Some believe it, some don't ,,, So if you are looking to sell, you'll be looking for those who believe.

Conversely, sometimes proof is established beyond most doubts[solid provenance]by way of period documentation, knowledgeable reference, period pics and other ways.
So it is up to you to prove us nay sayers [and potential buyers]wrong by digging up such proof.

Swastikas like this have been mass produced all over the world before, during and after the 3rd Reich, and sham & non 3rd Reich connected items, I am certain, far outnumber legit period pieces.

Unless you can come up with a period photo of this is wear, or some other kind of convincing documentation/reference, you'll never get more than pocket change for it.
Even being part gold is no savings grace, as 8k is about as low on the purity scale as its possible to get.

Point taken........... I'll just crawl under a rock now ;o)

All jokes aside this is the kind of information I am looking, if it passes the smell test on a forum then it's usually good to go..... in this case it sounds like a no go !

Hope I didn't come across as snippy or condescending Newbie, wasn't my intention.

Just trying to summarize a few things that we've learned the hard way, and you would have figured out yourself eventually.

This kind of item is often difficult to prove one way or the other - And if it can't be vetted, it going to be a tough sell.
As lakesidetrader pointed out, Swastikas were used by many different groups other than Nazis.

Coca cola I believe used them for a while, the boy scouts, even American & British military units pre 1930's, just to name a few.

When you have a known item, lets say an Iron Cross 1st class, then the only questions becomes its it real or fake.
With just a plain, sundry Swastika, another question is added - Was it even associated with the 3rd Reich ?
And that can be a very tough sell ,,, And though the item may be very nice on its own merits, if you can't make the connection, its not what NS collectors are looking for.

Some fringe items, like American Bund Swastika pins for example, don't actually have a bonafide 3rd Reich connection, insofar as most were made in Chicago or New York, but are nonetheless sought by many collectors ,,, And some fetch as high a price, or even higher, than if they were made in Germany 1930-1945.
Other countries, first heavily influenced by NS, then perhaps invaded or intimidated into open alliance, also produced their own NS themed political/military items, and these also have a collector base.

So there are a variety of scenarios here, which in part, make this such an interesting area of collecting ,,, But, bottom line, unless you have something that is generally well known and/or documented, you can't assume that just because you have a Swastika item that it is/was meant to be associated with Nazi Germany, or that it has much, if any, value.

Back to this piece, the only reason I think that it MAY be a TR item is the fact that the swastika is "mobile". Most good luck or charm items are not. Just a thought. I may well be wrong - and it wouldn't be the first time....
Cheers,
Mike
