The clock is a fantasy item from Poland.

thanks for the reply, nobody really has any input on these items. Is it a fact that the clock is in fact a "fantasy piece" or have you never seen them before and are assuming it's a fantasy piece?

I don't think a waffen proof mark would ever be on the face of a thing like that for any reason other than to try to 'enhance value'. If there was a need for it, it would be on the back of the clock.

i had seen one of these clocks on e bay about 6 months ago, and then recently i was offered this one for $150.00 and i took it. That's it! i swear i'm never going to buy a third reich item unless it's a dagger or a medal. I'm sick of all of this crap out there.

Sheek, these crooks rely on the cycles of collecting, as newer collectors enter the hobby, they do not know that such items are bad..and so it goes, over and over and over...

well, the really crappy thing is that now ,i'm stuck with them. I will never be able to get the money that i spent on such items back unless i deceive the next unknowing collector that will buy anything with a swastica on it. Which, by the way i do not intend on doing. A word for new collectors, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! try to stick to badges and daggers, even though they are widley faked, anyone who has done their homework can easilly spot out fake medals and daggers.

There's nothing wrong in buying military timepieces. In fact their pretty safe buys if you first buy some REFERENCE books. The books give excellent pictures and a LOAD of info. so you can't make a mistake. The one thing you'll have to consider are the repairs if they are not running. I am fortunate because I've been a watch repairman for 35 yrs. and worked on allmost anything.

Good advice Ed...

I bought this awhile back, with the waffen stamp and no homework done whatsoever... OMG, what was I thinking?

Fortunately, I nearly received the same money back and was honest and sold it as a fantasy piece to the new Owner.

Yes SDP, I do remember that piece as it was overly embelished. Most of the german pieces are more low profile so to speak.

Hi sheek123,

Usually an item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. In the case of your clock, you thought it was worth $150 for various reasons, including that it was a legitimate Third Reich item and not a fantasy piece.

Now, judging from the other comments, it seems pretty certain that your clock is a fantasy piece, then it is not worth what you thought and thus you overpaid.

So you can do one of the following three things:
1. Keep the clock in your collection. Even as a fantasy piece it could enhance a display.
2. Sell the clock at some future date. Maybe with time (no pun intended) the clock will have
appreciated in value and you can recoup most or all of your $150.
3. Sell the clock now. Put it on ebay (if the swastika doesn't get it kicked off) starting at
$1.00 and then the market will determine the current value.

If you plan to continue to collect items like this then you better do your homework (books, shows, this forum, etc).
