Hey Guys

Just picked this up out of the wood work the other day. I think its a mini song book for SA and SS. Thought I would share this with you all, any comments or info would be great. Thanks and enjoy.

While the cover shows Paramilitary and military designs the actual content (other than the soldatenlieder)is actually comprised of folk and children's songs..

This is an example of a Winterhilfswerk (WHW) donation gift (like the paper poppy given by US war veterans when collecting donations).

There's probably a WHW reference somewhere in the book. Yours is "Heft 2" or "volume 2". There may have been a volume for each of the type of songs listed on the back cover like folk songs, love songs, songs of the movement, soldeirs' songs, etc.

There were numerous series of glass, paper, bakelite items depicting flags, buildings and monuments, flowers, Teutonic emblems, etc etc and miniature books. The books included themes like Knight's Cross winners, Hitler and Song Books.

The idea was to collect the series and that encouraged more donations.

Sometimes these turn up with a complete serie mounted on the original cardboard display.

The string loop allows the book to be worn on a jacket button to show the recipient had made a donation. Other items had pins.
