I would be grateful for any comments regarding this full Rohm dagger that I have been offered and a ballpark figure for what it's worth. Does the pitting devalue it greatly? Thanks for looking.

Nice Dag! Expensive! I bet it is, pitting/rust or not.(I assume the "aficionados" here will need better photos though. I have had "limited" luck with my flatbed scanner!) Cheers, Pauli

Hi Terry.

While I am far from expert, I would question the fit of the blade to the crossguard. On these early SA's, I would not expect that gap on both ends. Also, why would the blade exhibit such damage near the crossguard yet the scabbard appears to be near mint as does the grip.

I am guessing a replacement blade to an early SA.

That is asuming the scabbard is anodized and the lower crossguard is gau marked.

Just my thoughts.

Jim

I'm with Jim on this one.
The blade doesn't look anywhere near the condition of the exterior of the dagger.
If anything one usually finds the the blade should be close or near or in many cases better than the exterior...there are exceptions of course.

This one, to me, looks like it came off a "beater" Rohm and the blade was added to a clean SA. Hense poor blade to crossguard fit. And unless I'm mistaken, that doesn't look like a Pack scabbard.

If it is a wrong'un I don't think that the seller is trying it on with me. Over the last couple of months I have had a Ground Rohm, Drk officer with knot and hangers, ditto Social Welfare and a DRK hewer all of which have been passed on to dealers here who seem to know what's right and what's wrong. I'm passing on this as he wants $3800 for it. He has a TENO leader that he got from Tom Wittmann which was the center piece of one of Wittmman's catalogues ( The Wittmann Offering). The trouble is that the people here seem to think that the hangers are wrong. I'll see what occurs.

No its a different dagger as Mongo still has his and is persuing the jerk that nailed him
But I suspect the blade is from the same source as the one in Mongos dagger
