I don't have high hopes but I have an sa blade that's rough at best but the entire back side of the blade has been what appears to be ground and buffed even the makers mark is gone and its pretty waive toward the guard the only marks on the blade are the "everything for germany" etchings and an "O" on the tang so the question I have would be is there any other way to determine if it is a ground rohm
for informational purposes compared to a clean blade that I have the difference's between the two are the blade in question has a bit more of an arch were the guard rests than the clean blade and the tang is flush with the blade on the blade in question were as the on the clean blade, the blade is raised up from the tang. the blade in question is also shorter wich Ive herd is a fix from rohm tips being broken. thanks all [IMG] |

:further inspection: the everything for germany inscription is placed further down than the clean blade. also I dont know if related but in relation to the posible tip being broken by the original owner the tang is bent away from the inscription and the tip of the blade is bent tword the inscription.

Hard to tell much from your pics, but from what you describe your blade exhibits a couple of traits you would expect to see on a Rohm blade. The motto on Eickhorn Rohms for example is further down the blade as you describe, only Rohm SAs would have this characteristic, also, the fact that the blade has been re-tipped is a characteristic of a "dis-honoured" Rohm blade. One will sometimes encounter Rohm blades with about a quarter inch snapped off the tip.

Measure the distance from the end of last "D" to the middle of the top of the blade where the crossguard would be. What is it ?

I think you are measuring the wrong thing. Here is a picture of the distance on a fake SS dagger. I mean the end of the motto - as you read it to the lower guard (or where the lower guard would be)

1 3/8" sorry about that

That is right on 35mm, which is what I would expect to measure on a Rohm dedication dagger with the small double oval trademark make by Eickhorn.

SWEET! I cant beleave that. thank you for your help guys, I think I payed $30 or $40 for it on ebay last year. never would have thought it would be a rohm dagger. to be honest I havent even looked at it in 2 months. I thought it was nothing more than a pitted beat up old blade.
btw theres a full rohm sa on gunbroker.com http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=91896078 |

Congratulations deathsring44! It is a unique feeling to discover (with the help of GDC) that you have something quite rare.
I'll never forget that it was GDC that educated me on the significance of my inherited Full Rohm. It's a million to one shot and you got it! |
