Just picked up this eickhorn ground rohm on gunbroker this evening. I was wondering about the crossgaurd not having a gau mark but was looking through the threads and I found one that said there were some that didn't weren't gau stamped. Here is an example of one. These are the pictures the seller had posted.

Scabbard
Will post and more and better pictures once the item arrives. One question did some of these without gau stamps still have the number on the bottom of the crossgaurd?

Yes, The number on the bottom is a bench number used by the Eickhorn assembler. Some have them and some don't.

It is not common but some did not have Gau marks and not all were stamped underneath the crossguard. From the pictures it looks like a good fit to me.

The more recent buzz about the Rohms without these marks is that they were awarded to higher ranking officers, political leaders, business leaders and the marks would detract from their appearance. If true, yours is a more valued dagger - especially an Eik (in my opinion).
I have an SS w/o marks inherited from my father and have inquired about the same thing of several experts.
Looks like a nice dagger from what I can see.

Congrats!

Maybe a little bit Gailen. I do realize that some daggers had the tips broke off and then had to be retipped. Other than the blade and the poor storage of the scabbard it is a nice dagger. One of the best grips I have had in a long time. Are the daggers without gau markings and benchmarks commom?
