I know some of you guys were in another private auction recently when this piece was kicked off Ebay. I recognized the email addresses of at least four GDC members. The dagger arrived today and it's better than I expected.

Scarce trademark for a Rohm.

Nice wood and great uncleaned patina.

I asked the seller about the history of the dagger. I got this interesting response:

Mike, All the people involved in acquiring the dagger have passed away. My father in law (not German) spent many drunken evenings with friends discussing Hitler, the war years, and that time in history. A coworker of his from Boston acquired this dagger and presented it to him. I believe it was in the late sixties or early seventies. He gave it to me 20 or more years ago. I had it in storage in an out building when our home and all it'scontents burned. I'v always thought it was neat but never displayed it because an number of my friends and neighbors are Jewish. Recently I decided to get rid of all the things that we don't use and the dagger made that list. That's about all I know. Thanks for purchasing it.

I had a feeling that would be a real nice one. The seller seemed like a good guy too. I'm glad it ended up with someone who can appreciate it.
