I don't know who's the reputable dealer but it is still FAKE.The letter "R" is the most obvious flaw but there are many others. Most of the letters in the inscription do not match with known originals. Unless this particular maker had a different and unique template, I do not like the inscription. However, I'm no expert and would appreciate other people comments, especially from Gailen who's the most knowledgeable person for these types of blades. I'll give you another clue, the dot on the letter "i" is much too high. All of the known originals have the dot much lower than the letter "L" besides it.

Fellas, I'm fairly new to the collecting world and would like to know who the reputable dealer is. I understand the hesitation. I doubt they would see it this way but one bad piece does not ruin a dealers rep or site. This is something that I rely on this site for.

Kriegsman. I know who the dealer is but he final decision belongs to the buyer of the Rohm dagger. I'm also the only person so far that has claimed the inscription to be faked. I have asked Dieter to get a second and third opinion. Yes, everyone is allowed to make mistakes but this dealer should know better as he is considered to be among the top 5 in the world. The sad news is that it ain't the first time that he sells a fake Rohm. He had to refund one of our GDC member last year for a similar situation about a Rohm dagger.

We see this more and more (here in Europe): identified fake "full" Röhm's that get a second life as a "partial" Röhm, because collectors tend to be less suspicious when a part of the inscription was crudely removed... And the fakers are happy with the premium for the "partial" fake inscription: about a 1000 $! Not bad for some acid... Best greetings, Herman

I did compare the placement of the script with a known original Boker as seen on page 3 of forum posts by myself. placement seems correct.

It is actually not the letter "R" but rather the letter "F" that I should be referring too in the word Freundschaft. It is a bit confusing since the capital "F" letter in the word Freundschaft looks more like than "R". Concerning the dot on the "i", it may just be the picture but it should be the same hight as the top of the letter "L" on its left side. Just compare Wagner Rohm inscription to the one Dieter has, it does not even compare. I honestly think that this SA was once an original full Rohm that has been erased and then redone post-war. The reason I'm saying this is simply because the maker marked seems to be at the right position for an authentic Rohm dagger.

But there is NO word "Freundschaft" (friendship)in this motto, Pat There is a word "Kameradschaft" (comradeship), so the first letter doesn't need to look like "F". It does however look like capital "K" in some retro handwriting stiles. What I don't like is thickness of the letters...

The best I can do is post more pics, What I will do is exercise its guarantee till the next Max show and let the experts decide then. Shipping it for an opinion is a risk, of loss or damage that I don't need at this time. Thank you for your time and comments.

I did attend the last show in Pittsburgh, with my wife and son. Met Dave Hohaus at Wittmans table and had Craig Gottlieb bless my membership pin at the pub.
