The maker mark on this piece was early double oval Eich. I am VERY interested to heat opinions on this one... Silver Badge #0398 My Avatar = My dagger security system!

I would be very careful before throwing this one to the can. Most of the fakes Rohm are easily recognizable from obvious red flags. However, I don't really see anything wrong with this one, just some small variances from known originals but nothing really "out of the norms", sort of speak. A hand inspection would definitively prove without a doubt the originality of this dagger, but so far so good...............in my humble opinion. I would like to hear opinions of other members. It would really help if we could see pics of the maker marked though.

Yes, I also noticed the wavy "f" but still, it has many other great attributes that makes me want to be very careful before discarding this dagger. Strangely enought, all of the other letters seems perfectly written, nice and smooth, except this particular "f". It could very well be just some dirt around the bottom tail of the letter "f". It could also be the angle of the pic.

From what I can see it looks like a proper "Eickhorn" style Rohm dedication. I realize that the following statement may bring up some discussion, however I always feel that is good for the hobby...There are minor variations in the Rohm dedications. If one is to take for example a E-Pack and an Eickhorn Rohm dedication and compare them side by side, you will see minor differences that are "period" and correct for those makers. Here we have an Eickhorn with no Gau mark. Is it correct? I have seen them both with and without it. Are the ones without it "parts" or a "rouge"? Or perhaps they are very early examples that were not yet required. Who knows? Here is one from a previous thread that looks to me just like this example. http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/477091573/...780087225#9780087225Great thread guys. -Serge-
