Hi mate, this dagger was posted on this forum a while back before being pulled because of the owner trying to sell it without having the appropriate membership level. The blade has been inspected (according to the seller) by both Gailen and Craig who both gave it the thumbs up.

Did you read the item description?
The guy does not want to send the item via post.
He says pick-up only in Munchen. That's a long way from down under.

I can't vouch for the dagger, as I don't recall it. However, closer photos would allow me to make a pretty certain determination.

Some comments and answers:

- As far as I know, RA Herder had only one size of trademark and I think (not sure) that it was positioned in the same place on both normal and Rohm insription daggers. The trademark above and what I can see of the rest of that dagger looks OK, But I can't comment on the inscription.

- A caution about sellers comments that "Xxxx abd Yyyy have seen this piece." Many of the claims are probably true, but should be verified. I would also caution members that there is a difference between someone "seeing" a dagger and someone authenticating a dagger. I have seen many times a dealer being handed a dagger by someone who asks "What do you think?". The answer is most always "Nice" ..... and that is not an authentication.

Sturm, we usually don't keep copies of unsupported sales offers, but If you can give me an approximate date, I will gladly look. Who was the poster ?

The dagger looks good to me, but in order to actually authenticate it, I'd have to see it in person to check the inscription. So, that's not an authentication, but it's a "step in the right direction."

EP&S was a rather prolific maker of SA Rohm Inscription daggers, but I know of no SS examples.

Sturm,

Found it. The pictures of the blade are not nearly as good as the one you have now.

I would add that trying to figure out whether a Rohm inscription is real from the pictures is very difficult.
