All I can say is that Haco did make the Rohm and in fact the nicest Rohm I ever saw was a Haco.

Thank you for the input Gailen.

Did Haco use a smaller, closer to the guards, makersmark on its Röhms or always the regular one like the one shown here?

Anyone else has (seen) a Haco Röhm?

Best greetings,

Herman

From my memory, I believe the Haco Trademark you have on the piece is correct. I don't believe they used a smaller Haco mark on Rohms.

I've never seen a Haco full Rohm. I believe they are very hard to find.

The inscription and the maker mark look far too fresh if you compare this with the surrounding blade condition! In my opinion I would say the inscription has been recently done and the maker mark has been touched up to match the background of the inscription. I would give this one a miss in my opinion.

I just don't see how anyone could conclude that something was wrong with this inscription or trademark based on just the images shown. Maybe I'm just getting old.

you asked for some opinions Herman and I have gave you my opinion on this dagger. I have had a good look at the pitting etc on the blade shown and it does not run through the inscription motto etc with the picture quality I am seeing on my screen, better pictures of the whole dagger would help. It could just be what im seeing also but how deep is the inscription on this dagger, as it looks shallow ? As I said it could just be the picture quailty that I am seeing on my computer? Also I could be very wrong about this dagger and i hope that I am wrong on this one as it would make a very nice find indeed!

Wait a minute Cool. Let me get this straight. You, in so many words, said, in your first response the dagger was bad. Now your saying that you could be wrong or it could be the pictures and to quote you, "I could be very wrong about the dagger." I think what your really saying is you wish you hadn't writen your first respone based on the information you had available. And you know what, so do I.

I am very tired of the authenticity of these pieces being made based on the images posted. You can't do it on the better fakes. Sure, we can spot the obvious repo here but on many examples it takes a hand on examination to determine possible authenticity. Please use your heads before you make a definiative opinion on a piece,

I do not see anything wrong with this Rohm inscription.
I gave Herman my personal opinion ( in a private e.mail ) about a week ago and said that
everything looked original and that it was a fantastic dagger. Wink

you will show some extra pictures in the "premium members forum"!! All I can say is this! If this is the way this forum does things you can keep it! Oh and I have had another look at your dagger again and I would say you are not posting extra pictures of your dagger here for all to see because you have doubts yourself about it's authenticity, and you would rather be a sheep and listen to so called experts in the field, and there is no such thing as an expert by the way when it comes to TR collecting, and if someone says they are they are full of crap!!! But you believe what you want Herman as it's your money that you have more than likey thrown away on a spurious Rohm dagger! And I for one will never post again on this narrow minded dealer worshiping forum as I will learn nothing about the hobby here! No wonder the fakers are nearly winning the battle out there with you guys collecting TR militaria!! Mad

WOW!! What other word rhymes with COOL and starts with F? Maybe we should apply this term in this instance. A relative new comer who has, evidently, rated himself as "expert" and proceeds to question a piece that one of the more respected forum contributors is offering a positive reaction to then gives the forum a lecture?? Please!

Cool: It never fails that a guy like you, if given enough rope, hangs themselves. Your true colors eventually come through and your agenda is obvious to everyone. Now go impress your local friends with your knowledge. Good riddens!

Ron: How many Rohm Daggers do you think we have hands on examined in our life times? You think maybe over a hundred? Maybe more. I would think so? But who's keeping track? Cool, let us hear of your expertise in this area. I'm not saying you don't have a right to an opinion but you don't have a right to slander a piece without some foundation. If you notice in my opinions on this piece I didn't say 100% it was correct only that it appeared to be correct based on the information supplied. Also that I had seen this maker on a Rohm before. I considered this a responsible response unlike yours.

If you notice I do not regularly post on a daily bases. I really only come on when I think an injustice has been done. There are plenty of knowledgeable guys on here to help. I'm kind of like Zorro, only fat! Ha! Ha!
