I've just bought this, and being a newbie, I would appreciate some more knowledgeable opinions.

Your a newbie and you bought this Full Rohm E-pack SA without checking with us first?

My next post till tell you what my opinion is on this dagger.

First thing I noticed was the the dedication was very close to the makers logo.
But that doesn't bother me.
I would need a close up of just the "Ernst Rohm" name to state further my opinion on the dedication. From what I see here it conforms to known originals.
The e-pack Makers Logo is also a known and accepted "solid hammer" varient with the small "&".
The crossguard does not exibit a Gau District stamp which occurs on less than 10% of Rohm daggers. According to my research and with discussions with advance collector/authors this means that it was a "Presentation Dagger". There will be more on this in Tom Wittmann's forthing coming book on the SA daggers.
The grip shows a typical "Tiger" pattern to the stain known for e-pack Rohms. (I have in my collection a grip just like this on my e-pack Rohm.)
The crossguards appear to be typical e-pack.
The scabbard also exibits characteristics of an e-pack.
The crossguard and scabbard throat fit is excellent. As is the blade to crossguard fit.

From what is shown here IMO it appears to be an ALL early e-pack dagger. I believe this is a 100% original Rohm dagger. However I reserve the right to see a close up of "Ernst Rohm" name only.

While I get very nervous seeing these in such good condition, I agree with Serge, everything about this dagger is exactly what you'd expect to see on an early Pack.

Your pics are good which helps, do you have any straight-on shots of the inscription, more close up than the previous pics. The several anomalies one expects to see on the Pack inscription seem to be correct, but detailed straight shots in sections would sure help. Beautiful dagger BTW...

Without a final "hands-On" that is usually required nowadays...I have to say that I do not see in this example features that I would consider "Red-Flags".
What I do see in the many features that I am able to observe from the photos provided is characteristics of a period made E-pack - SA Presentation Rohm dedication dagger.

These epack are the hardest to of the Rohm's to authenticate by photos. However my confidence level is high that is is an original example.

One minor piece of advice- send your family elsewhere, lock up your house as tight as a drum, hire a private armed guard, take 14 caffeine tabs, and expect a full frontal attack from the Pack Collectors tonight!! Who did you buy this from, St George?? Mike

This is not the type of example that us veterans expect to see a newbie pop up with. You got to "Know Someone" nowadays to get one like this. In this condition.
The dealers don't even post them on their sites anymore since they have a "Rohm Wait List".

IMO you made one of the best investments to be made in German daggers by purchasing this example.

Yes, this is an impressive dagger... The blade for sure but also the grip is about the nicest I have even seen, a double A... wonderful start you made "AA"!

I can't see any problems either, there a few small differences between others that are catalogued, but that is to be expected since these templates were applied and etched by hand. As Serge pointed out, the final test in in a hands-on, but I'd be surprised if there were any problems...

BTW, is the grip black or very dark brown? These early Pack SAs often had a dark plum coloured scabbard, can't tell from the pics.

No, there's no Gau mark Robert, and Redbaron, the scabbard is a typical SA brown colour.

I've no intention of selling it, and investment return is not important.I just bought it because it's such a unique piece of history,looks great, and I've wanted one for a long time.

I now remember where I saw that dagger, I received pics of it several months ago.
Back then, I came up with the same conclusion as today.......100% original.
This specific dagger was also purchased from the most respected dealer in Canada.

Don't worry, IT IS GOOD, you can sleep tight.
