Its a current reproduction made by Michael Janke's company in Germany. There is a long thread that is pinned on the WAF in the Cloth Headgear Forum entitled "Janke Characteristics."
Tell him to read it.

I cotacted the seller and he has had it appraised by one of the larger TR dealers and he proclaimed it authentic - I wished him good luck with it -

If that cap is on a certain internet auction site, (i think it is the same one..) many others have explained to the owner the problems with it, but he refuses to listen..i think he knows..
