Any idea of what rank or branch of service ??

Rank of Unteroffizier, and the red piping would indicate Artillery

I found one for sale on one of the dealer sites - It's called HBT combat field uniform - Thanks for the reply on it -

Much much better photos are needed before an authenticity statement can be made, IMHO.

That and the average German soldier was still wearing his fatigues, sometimes for years after the war, albeit modified for stylistic reasons.
