Roll EyesHi Gang,I have a few questions for you.I have a vets son looking to sell some Arm Bands. The four he has are made of a what seam like a thin canvas material,Not wool not cloth. To me they look like Templates. One is a HJ,the second is a SS with the black boarders on top and bottom.the third looks like a Generals with a spot in the middle where the square metal piece would go.the last is a plain one.Three are stamped on the back. Two have the Waffen stamp. The last has the SS and the SS Eagle.I don't have pix.All info. welcome.Price?Again Sorry no pix.

You seem to know what they are branch/org. wise..
Templates?, sounds interesting. ALL the exact type material? Are they sewn together or unfinished?
Not always a 100% test but try a black light and at least you'll know if they glow,,and again not always 100% but you can try burning a small piece of the thread to see if it melts or burns..Other than those tests your going to have to get some photos up for an opinion...

Gaspare,
it has been a while, my fault. I am guessing if it BURNS it is period, and if it MELTS it is not?
please correct me if I am wrong kind sir!

Hi Paul. If it burns and just leaves an ash or soot its natural material.. If it burns, melts and leaves a hard blackish ball,or hard crumbled chips its synthetic..

Many will say there were synthetics made during the war. Yes, there were,,but for the most part weren't used for insignia.......

Here's an old link with a chart for the different materials / burn test:

Well, wish I could tell you something definite on them..
Looks like all the other stuff from the lot was good correct?, if so these are probably good too..
Maybe something like salesmans samples,or maybe a prototype last ditch late war offering? We may never know!
