Hi Essex....nice photo.I don't know his rank but he is from the Deutsche Jaegerschaft organisation. Maybe if you look closely at his arm badge you will see the stag's head emblem similar to ones already posted. He is wearing his informal tunic (green buttons)and would have another with silver buttons for more formal occasions.

I have a collection on m1943 type field caps. Something in common with a few, the striated texture of the bakelite buttons. This texture even carries over into a Swedish model I own from the same period. Gorgeous tunics! Cheers, Pauli ,,Every cloud has a silver lining...
