About an year ago the Grandson of Claudius Dornier, Dieter, came to Brasil on a mission for the UNICEF flying the only Dornier DO-24 "alive" in the world. The mission of a Humanitarian interest was called "DO24 ATT WORLD TOUR - A FLIGHT FOR DREAMS" AND "KAYANG KAYA".
The plane itself was modified a lot, none of the engines are original, they manage to adapt a landing gear so this could land on any airport instead of only in water. Dieter Dornier told me that ALL the original parts were carefully stored at the factory. He also told me that this plane might be made AGAIN! Hi Aylson:
Good to see you again! FYI: I'm now pretty much back among the living.* That is a really neat plane. What airport is it parked at? *For those of you that don't know I contacted both Whooping Cough and Walking Pneumonia while traveling in Brasil in October. I'm just now beginning to feel like my old self again. Mark Paul,who had an off road vehicle roll over on him at about the same time, and I spent a lot of time offering each other our condolances,  Aylson and I are probably the only two guys in the world that have ever examined a Nazi Colonels tunic in the parking lot of an upscale Rio hotel! Thanks a lot for your comments. Well, it is very true, Jim and I examined an Army Colonel wrapp-around in the hotel parking lot just before we see the Christ Statue where again in the parking lot of that Church we hide it under the passenger seat, inside Jim's jacket ! That airport this plane is parked? You were there with me! It is the Museum in the Santa Cruz Air Force base, it was closed because that accident. It's still closed, I don't know why. I'll try to go there next week again, I need to take some pictures there. By the way Jim, I was downstairs about 5 minutes ago recieveing the package. It has arrived safely and everything is inside!
