Print The last member of Adolf Hitler's notorious inner circle has died at age 96, leaving behind instructions to publish a manuscript about his time spent alongside the German dictator, the Telegraph reported.

Fritz Darges was present for all major conferences, social engagements and policy announcements during World War II — and experts believe his memoir could disprove claims by some disputed historians that Hitler never directly ordered the extermination of the Jews, and that the "final solution" was the brainchild of SS chief Heinrich Himmler.

Darges rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel and thought Hitler was a genius. It was rumored that the dictator's sister-in-law Gretel Braun was interested in him, but he "didn't think he should become the brother-in-law of the Fuhrer."

In 1944, Darges' relationship with Hitler changed at a conference when Hitler ordered him to destroy a fly that buzzed around the room.

Darges suggested that, as it was an "airborne pest," the job should go to the Luftwaffe staff officer, Nicolaus von Below.

Enraged, Hitler dismissed Darges, yelling, "You're for the eastern front," and Darges was sent to combat.

Darges died at his home in Celle, northern Germany

Now this I don't really get as how could he have known that Hitler would eventually marry Eva? Additionaly Hitler never actually had a brother-in-law since he ordered the execution of Fegelien who was married to Eva's sister before he married Eva.

I'm sure the paper doesn't tell the whole story. Although Hitler wasn't the most rational of people. I'm sure that more lead to his dismissal. In Gitta Sereny book Albert Speer: His battle with truth. Speer states how, and this isn't a quote. But people got quite a leash with Hitler. He played with others more than he got played but he wasn't humorless. That is a fact. Most likely he wasn't a very significant person in the inner circle if that was all that got him ejected or the humor came at a less than ideal time. For myself this is the first I've heard his name. But personally I think there is more to the story then what this generic paper article states?

Keen eye in seeing that Jim funny. Big Grin Neither did their research I think.

He was probably another person who meant little in the scheme of things but wanted to bank off the little contact he that he had had.
