Having been always interested in the U Boat service of the Kriegsmarine I have always wondered what they had for provisions to eat. From what I would think there would be hardened sausages, powdered eggs, canned meats, etc. Does anyone have any info on this?

Operation Drumbeat by Michael Gannon (1991) (U 123) talks extensively about rations on board as well as the slop buckets! Every nook and cranny was stuffed with things like pre baked bread!?!?!?
