I have a couple of engraved army daggers, including details about two units who fought in the Eastern front, 7th and 223rd Infantry Divisions. So I am buying a number of references covering these units, including 'Slaughterhouse: The Manual of the Eastern Front, (this is a comprehensive reference covering all German and Soviet units, bios etc)'Sturm auf Moskau' and others. I would love to start a new topic here with any of you interested in these units and battles, share pics etc

"Hell's Gate" by Doug Nash is a great work. I specialized in the Eastern Front and have an extensive library of the German army in Russia from the heady early days of the invasion to the retreat back to Germany. I'll look up some more titles for you later today.

Thanks KT

I just got 'The Wehrmacht at War' which overlaps a bit with 'Slaughterhouse' on the Eastern Front units, but has all the others as well, General bios and more pics, not bad. It details the Orders of Battle of the Heer, LW and SS. I have to say most of this is available in Feldgrau.com, diedeutschewehrmacht.com, etc.... but its nice to have it in a bound volume with the extra details

As for the 7th Inf Div., I have just snapped up at amazon the last copy of 'Chronik der 7. Infanterie-Division' by Wilhelm Hertlein, which is suposed to be one of the 2 in depth and authoritative volumes available. It was used and £65... ouch! better be good Smile

This German site is also excellent: http://wehrmachtdivisionen.de/

more on http://wehrmachtdivisionen.de

I paid 10 euros to download a large pdf with full OB of the 7th Inf Div, including most of the officer names (those on division staff, as well as officers down to Regiment commanders), full list of EK and RK winners, unit citations etc etc... unfortunately it stops short of the level of detail i was looking for... Nonetheless great reference, check it out
