Hi All Yesterday was chrismas and today after me,my wife and our son had finished a nice and good fottrip in a wally near by, I had some time in my hands while she was preparing a steak dinner. As I promised I would take some moore shots from the festungs surronding our area. The first tread was "History frozen in time..." regarding Nordheim Batterie, and this is the neighbour Batterie in west called "festung Hagland". I did not have a flashlight with me so no pictures inside this time. I could only cover some of the fort because of short time in my hands. Ill enjoy posting these pics along with a glas of french red wine. Please give comments of what you think guys Enjoy!

The landscape is really a swiss cheese with trenches, bunkers and caves everywhere. Good shape of most of them and it is of course surrounding with farmers land and it`s not really very populated at all.
Next: Ammo bunker used uptil now by us...the Norwegian armed forces..

Another cool strucured one! In the 60`s before the national guard youth started there was this youth group called the guerilla group where the youth trained among places at Hagland festung. They had m98.mg34,mp40,sten mkII,suomi mp and us carabine`s...and they had their personal weapon at home.Yes even the 16yrs.old mg gunner! on this fort they was trained of clearing bunkers and trenches. They used explosives and blasted the old german bath brick/tile barrack on this fort. In officers mess the "oldies" laugh remembering youthes bicycling with mg-34 on their back trough our town to the training... Today this is ofcourse not the standard!

The commando bunker! Strong optics have been placed here! Today this "Ravenclaw" business have restored the bunker as a nice partybunker and the artillery position below has two outdoor bath tubs where you can sit with good friends and drink beer in snow peeling for landingcrafts. They also have a paintball outdoore arena and some other exiting experience stuff for friends, bachleor party or teambuilding to rent.

Standing on top of the commando bunker and facing towards the sea. See all the fortification in the background?
You can see that there is some inland water. One of the bigger dams is on farmers land and has a big metal sign saying "No fishing". Well the farmer isn`t the one placing it there. The water is full of weapons and explosives. I myself am a scubadiver but have not dared to dive there..a friend did and he found a crate of 7,92 and a bajonet. It is muddy any you must find it in the mud. It can ruin your day!!!
A friend of the family was a kid in the years after the war and after a hot summer some of the little waters dryed up and he and his friend found many mg belts and german hand grenades among other stuff...

The dayly leader of our museum "Arquebus" found 20mm flak magazine, gasmask in conteiner, walther signal pistol, german ww1 helmet ++ wich is now preserved on our museum! They found this in not that bad condition on a dumpingplace on the fort. They found it in the 80`s.

Think of guard duty here...or on the bunkers in the background in snowstorm februar 44. Note the german semented waterresouar in the back of the lake..

A german barrack in fair shape doscovered from a hill surrounded by pinetrees. This barrack is a bit withdrawn from the seaside and the artillery positions towards the rear defence.
Kingtiger! Mount the mg-34 mit tarn dreifuss ...feuer!

This is a bit odd. Last national guard exersize a platoon leader collega who has a farm around the fort!!!told me that there is a single bunker east and west maybee 3 km from the fort. The east one you could drive to, and the place was really a distress harboure from back to the wiking age,in fact the farmer there had a wiking "rune bauta" on his land!!! It originally had been two bauta`s but one was lost/destroyed at some time. This I had to see.
I did not have the time today to visit the other bunker west of the fort wich contained a cannon mount with a shield in front like the ones you have seen on 88`s in Afrika ++, This I must visit soon!
The Wiking rune bauta on farmers land some meters from the seaside...

Strange, the bottom of the picture showing the seaside is missing...
The last bunker between Hagland and Nordheim batterie. It is a fact that german submarines went by and ancored up in our town. E-boots and all other kinds of german boats went by here. The father of the daily leader of our museum was only a kid and was with his father fishing in a wooden boat outside between Hagland when Prinz Eugen went by. He had to throw up because of the waves. He and his wife is helping us making manekengs on the museum and he has told us this story twice. Poor lad
Well, please give your comments collector friends...
