Unique pics from Lidice were hidden 65 years.

65 years the pics from Lidice destruction laid in the box. Finally now they came to the ligth, into hands of historians whose says they are very valuable. Only from them we recognize where was the camp of RAD men, who razed this village in 1942 .

Old woman from Stredokluky contacted Lidice Memorial she has photos visibly displaying razeing of Lidice.
"Her husband had a drugstore in Bustehrad during the war, and he also made amateur photographs. One of the soldiers asked him to develop his pictures, and he made a copies in secret for himself." says Eduard Stehlik, historian from VHU (Military Historical Institute)
From pictures yopu can see that hundredths of RAD men worked at razeing of Lidice. They pulled down the buildings, changed surrouding terrain and even changed flow of the creek to hide exact position of the village
"These are pictures like those taken by boyscouts at the summer camp" says Stehlik, who bought part of the pictures at german auction site last January.
Most of the pics shows destroying the cemetary including removing the coffins from graves, laying the tracks for moving the gravestones which were used for building the barracks in Veleslavin. Next pic shows a soldier sitting at debris from destroyed St. Martin's church.
Pictures are now studied by historians. People could see them in June, they become a part of Lidice Recollection book prepared by Eduard Stehlik. At the end of next year they will appear at exhibition in Lidice Memorial.

RAD men worked at Lidice year and half. Lidice village was razed 10th June 1942 because of Reinhard Heydrich assassination. There lived 192 men, 203 women and 98 children. Only 143 women and 10 children survived. Men were executed, women transported to concentration camps and children sent to "re-education"

WOW, Historical photos for sure that show the extent of the sick Nazi/SS mind..

Jan, many areas in the USA [and around the world I undertand] named or renamed small towns 'Lidice' in Honor of the town.

I hope the Stehlik book will have a English version..

The flag of the man that was killed and Hitler ordered the destruction of that town as revenge, Reinhard Heydrich. The spots are from the overhead lighting at the SOS a few years ago where it was displayed in a protective plexiglass case.

Doug,
At present I own the flag. I consider myself only the temporary caretaker of it since I am certain it will outlive me and several others who will come to possess it.
