Interesting story BadBob. I know that there is still much controversy regarding the last human remains of Hitler kept in Moscow. We will never know for sure what happened. One fact is proven: Hitler committed suicide on April the 30th 1945.

I remember reading an article when I was a kid titled "The Russians Have Hitlers Body" in one of the mens magazines either True or Argosy. The article stated that Stalin was using the top of Hitlers skull as an ashtray!! With what we believe to know now this article may have been eerily accurate.

When I was growing up, there were endless articles about Hitler's fate. Bormann, Mengele, and Eichman too, but Hitler was the star. They'd even have blurred shots at a cafe in South America and sometimes those aged shots with "Here is what he would look like now."

Lots of people ate crow when it trurned out the Roooskies had him all along, but said nothing.

Now, hands up everyone who thinks Pravda is telling the truth THIS time. Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

So much has been told. People have seen Hitler in Spain, Argentina, North America... you name it.

Gestapo chief Müller is a mystery though.. nobody knows what happened to him. Perhaps he is living next door to me...

I would like to point out that the word "jap" is considered highly offensive to Japanese people.

Since we are an international forum, I would ask you to avoid using this in the future.

Thanks,
Dave

"Get real, Dave" ??? The use of the term "Jap" has absolutely nothing to do with Political Correctness, rather it is a historically derogatory term which is, in my opinion, inappropriate in its use on this very public forum. I was a child during WWII and know quite well the intended usage at that time. I agree with Dave that out of respect for the international nature of the forum, the use of this terminology is offensive, especially if one is aware of its historic derivation.

Denny,

It is not pc that motivated the post, just a request for courtesy towards other Forum members in case folks did not know.

Until I visited Japan, I was not aware of the implications myself.

Seems funny that using the first four letters of the word British, i.e. 'Brit' to describe someone of British origin does not cause offence, in fact most of us over here are proud to be 'Brits', but thanks for the lesson in decorum all the same!! Roll Eyes

Hello all,
just a comment, I always thought that PC was so someone would not be offended by a certain term, so not using the word jap certainly does have something to do with political correctness.

One of my ad copy men put the word "JAP" war relics in one of my ads in a newspaper of 100,000 circulation a few years back without my knowlege. The up roar was unbelievable. The newspaper even had subscribers cancel and they sent me a horrible letter telling me that they would never print my ad again.
So make fun of Dave all you want. HE IS CORRECT and it can cause problems, as hard as it is to believe.
My stand with the paper was that I was trying to communicate with US WWII veterans and this is the term that they would understand, but this didn't fly.

Hello all,
Just a comment in reference to Mr.Weinand saying about the paper not having a problem using the term nazi. This is what really annoys me about the whole ww2 thing. As far as I am concerned the Japanese were as bad as the Nazis were and the Russians as bad as both of the aforementioned groups but it is the Nazis that seem to be the only group that still has this stigma attached to them. One never hears of Japanese war criminals being hunted down only old 80yr old men who were nazis. Stalin killed many more people than Hitler did and a captured soldier had more chance of surviving the war if imprisoned by the nazis than if he was captured by the Japanese, yet it is only the nazis who to this day are spoken of as arch villians etc. Now I am not saying that the nazis were a bunch of nice guys but surely the Japanese and russians are no better. I think it was Patton who said referring to the Russians that perhaps we(the US)were fighting the wrong enemy. Evil is evil.

The Japanese were some very cruel dudes in thier day. I have no respect at all for the soldiers they fielded in WWII.

They had zero respect for anything not Japanese. That is history, not something to be forgotten easily.

In Ft. Lauderdale there is a foreign car repair shop called "The Jap Shop". Nobody complained about that for the ten years I lived there.

Nice folk now, but that was a bad time in thier history for them as well as whoever they subjugated.

If we are worried about using the word jap. Why are we not worried about posting pics of nazi relics which to some are just as bad. When do two wrongs make a right. Just a thought. To me it doesnt matter. I get called a gringo when I go to mexico and other south american countries. Which is like using the n word to a black guy. Doesnt bother me.

You have the right to remain silent, everything you say will be MISquoted and used against you.

I think mananero is right. Since the dreaded swastika is offensive to German people, then why don't we refrain posting it on pics on the forum?
If we "ban" certain words or symbols, are we no better than EBAY, which we complain all the time of banning certain items?
Maybe we should all adopt a non descript idenity, show no emotions and be mindless robots! That way, we will not offend other people.
