I was looking through some more of my old photo's today and found these. This is Hamm Cemetary, an American graveyard which is just a couple of km's outside Luxembourg City.
This is where General Patton is buried.

I also found this link to Hamm Cemetary, which has a lot of information regarding Patton's funeral, and also the cemetary as a whole. It makes for very interesting reading.

There is also a German cemetary a few km's further down the road.

It was quite a moving experience to be here, amongst all these heroes.

I visited that cemetary about 25 years ago and paid my respects to the General. That graveyard is greatly impressive. He is, as he was, at the head of his troops ... forever.

I was told by the guide that Mrs. Paton was (?) buried in the same grave after she died many years later. I never was able to confim that.

Dave, yes it is greatly impressive, and this is but one of very many scattered across Europe.

I didn't get a chance to visit the German cemetary up the road due to spending too much time here. Do you visit that one?

Regards
Russell

The inscription above the doors in the Memorial says:

'HERE IS ENSHRINED THE MEMORY OF VALOR AND SACRIFICE'

I missed that German cemetary. I have visited others. There is a very impressive on in Normandy with the casualties of the 12th SS Panzer.
