A friend of mine got this Viet Nam momento from his dad who was there in the 60's or 70's. The info he has is that this is a French 75mm from the late 40's to 50's. Are there collectors for this type of thing?

Looks like a WW1 U.S. shell.

Unit Crest is from the 457 AIRBORNE FIELD ARTILLERY BN.

Maybe it was a unit souvenir on someones desk.

I know his dad was in an Airborne Bn. so you're probably right. The thing come apart and it you look closely you can see some deflection in the timer. I'll bring it to the MAX and show it around. Maybe some "trench Art Guy" will want it.
