Being that I don't have the God given artistic talent like Rick Turner or Bernie, nor do I have the patience, I turn to the pre-fabbers for display enhancement. They are nothing great but that kid in me really likes how they look and the fact the props even spin!!

Models certainly do add to a display. Hats off to those of you who are truly talented at this stuff.

Rick, glad to see you decided to stay. Looking at your masterpieces is truly enjoyeable.

I've got a couple. They are vintage 1920s German porcelain. Made by Hutsenreuther.(sp) Very detailed.

Thanks Geoff

Several years back when Mr. Tamiya announced that his company was going to offer pre-built models of various subjects and levels of quality I think most model builders thought it would never catch on, I now own two of Tamiyas big scale Ferraris, the F50 and the Enzo. I also have a couple of the DML (Dragon) Tigers and my son and I have a bunch of the tiny 1/72 DML tanks too. We love ‘em. The workmanship and details are very good. Plus, if you wish to take the model a little further via weathering, you certainly can with no problems.

These are great displays and the models do just what they need to do, enhance the display, serve as little surprises along the way. Mike, I love that Albatros, any chance you could post a couple more pics and maybe a little about the builder?

I know I was a little skeptical when I saw our only local hobby store going way top heavy on these things (in inventory) for Christmas, but you know, they sold out, especially the aircraft of all scales. I think these pre-built subjects are a great idea and they’re here to stay. Smile

Hello Sword-Fish, the Heutschreuther figures are awesome, I have the same one as you, and a few more of this style. I believe some of the artists that worked for Heutschenreuther also did work for Allach

Hi Scott. Wrong person. I think you are reffering to MRWs figures. My stuff is pretty low rent, but still sort of fun and adds to the display. Since my original post, i've added a large number of Luftwaffe and American birds, a few more tanks, and a set of IJA 1:32 figures...of course, all prebuilt, die-cast plastics.

I also love using models in the display Smile
I just can't find the time any more to build & paint all the models I'd like to...

Here's a 1/48 scale FW-190 I built many years ago, it's in the colors of my "local" JG-5. Along with a Tamiya 1/16 pilot.

Cheers,

Tor-Helge
