I just picked up this large Luftwaffe cup or mug. I'm not sure what the proper term would be for this particular vessel. Anyway, can anyone shed any light on this piece or the maker?

I was just going to say...look at the bottom...there should be some ID...but since you showed it...well there it is...although I have some serious doubt if that is a pre war make...they did not use that kind of lettering...maybe somebody will be able to shed some light here...
as to what kind of vessel it is...since it has a bolbous shape I would think it is a vase...if it has a handle...not visible if any...that would make it a mug...since it has NO lid...if it had a lid that would make it a stein...regards...your SteinMeister

and of course you could drink beer out of it...but since it has no lid it would go flat rather quick...

Bauscher Porzellan from Weiden would make sence for me. But Bausch Lübeck up north in germany?
Maybe some could clear it. The logo doesn´t show much quality either, for my view it isn´t a pre 45´ piece.

Robert,

Bausher is a different maker and different marks, this I can find nothing on, but its the decal that would raise the flags, the logos on many pieces are not terrific, but easily recognizeable.

No expert here but to me it lacks the clear crisp detail of German craftsmanship.

But its a gosh darn good home decor piece of personality for der bunker. I like it.

Well it does add a little character to der bunker and it has a large capacity of about
.750 litre with a nice handle.

Mike...thanx for turning the "Mug" ...that makes it definitely a mug...now if you could put a lid on it it would be a stein... Big Grin...never the less...pre or post war...it is a very very attractive luftwaffe mug...as long as I got your attention I am going to speculate a little bit...here are my thoughts...I think this luftwaffe fellow served in Bausch in 1937 and after the war he had commissioned himself a mug to commemorate his service...I have no way of proving this...but that would explain the date and place...BTW it is much too hansome a piece to be pre war...I think it was made in the seventies as a comemorative piece...your head speculator...Roland.

From the side view I don´t think a soldier would drink beer out from this tee or coffee can style. Also the decor style isn´t right for a time piece, but this is my view.
