Thank you all for your comments. Johnny: That badge is my latest acquisition. In 1941 before the adoption of the sleeve patch the Sounderverband 287/288 had these pins/badges made by local artisans. This is one such badge.

Alpha Red : Great Stuff ! Can you please show us the unit / U-boat insignia on that U-Boat Cpt.'s cap . Also I see a name paper tag inside , what is the name on it ?? Do you have a name to go with the Knights Cross with the oaks and swords ???Thanks , Bernd

Bernd: The pin on the side of the cap is the so-called "sweet heart rose," a tinny that was given by sweet hearts to their soldier/sailor lovers. I've heard it was adopted by some U-boat but I can't confirm that. The cap does have a name in it. However The officers son has asked me not to advertise that information. I can tell you his rank is given as Kapt-Leut (I may have miss pelt that, I'm not at home at this writing.) [IMG]  [/IMG]
