Hello all, i've been out of collecting TR items for about 5 years while i went to undergrad and then grad school. During that period buying Top Ramen was a major expense! Almost a year ago i was at a garage sale and purchased a simple wound badge which sent me back down the infamous path of destrution! I call this the poor man's collection because not one item is purchased from a dealer. Don't get me wrong i love dealers i just can't afford them..YET! All items were purchased from garage, estate and in direct vet buys in the past year. Sorry for the items that are not TR but in need these pics for the class im teaching. I would also like to thank every one on this site who has guided me thru the maze of repros! It's great to be back

I don't see anything Poor about your Collection at all ...Looks GREAT !!
You're doing better than many who ONLY buy from dealers and you still have money for Ramen.
Now think of how that Collection would grow if you cut out the Ramen Eek

ok ..ya gotta eat something I forgot. See what this Hobby does to ya ? Big Grin

I find it a minor miracle that you were able to collect at all while still in school. Good cross selection of stuff, nice work.

Thanks all for the comments and Mike luckily my ramen days are behind me! Also Billy i think my post was a little confusing I didnt have any money in college nor did buy any TR items i collected before i started school and after. I already graduated and now i teach college history. You should see my students eyes when i bring in US/TR items during the WWII lecture Eek

I agree,"nothing poor about that" whatever.
A very nice selection of interesting items. I bet you are a great teacher. When a teacher is enthusiastic about their subject it brings another dimension to the students. I bet they love to see this stuff, I know I would have!

Good for you & welcome back!

Very nice collection. I too work very hard to find deals that I can afford. I get stuck sometimes but then again I get good deals also. Last was a SS belt and buckle, PAB, and Luft flack badge for $390. Takes time and patience! Ian.

If this is a "poor man's" collection, then I need to know what below that so I'll know what to call mine. Really like the variety you have there. Steve

Hello,

Being a broke college student myself, I'll say this.

I have have a small collection and I take my stuff out and look at it all the time. I don't need to wear gloves or worry too much with the stuff that I have as none of it is really worth anything of value.

With that being said because you collect on a budget like myself, does that mean you don't enjoy what you have just as much as than the other guys?

Nice grouping of items there.
