I have recently inherited a number of military artifacts from many countries and eras. I really do not have an interest in keeping these items and would like to find the best way to sell them. Obviously I do not want to get offers from dealers looking to buy the entire lot. I have time to sell them off individually.
SO, my question is what would be the best way to go? There are a number of German daggers, uniforms, medals, swords, boots, firearms (lugers, mausers) etc.
Thanks for your input.

Sign up as a premium member on this site and list the pieces in the FOR SALE forum. You'll get better prices than a dealer would give you.

That would be great as long as he knows what the pieces are worth. But if he is not a collector the chances are he doesn't. He is probably better off paying a dealer to appraise the collection.

Also would be a very important thing to acquaint yourself with Federal and State laws regarding the sale of firearms....you don't want BATFE knocking down your door. If I may be of any help just send me a PM.
Cheers,

Mike

Skyline is right!

How do you plan to sell them off individually if you're not well schooled in collecting militaria?
It takes YEARS to learn about this stuff.

I suppose you could auction them off on ebay, but that wouldn't be my choice.
You're going to need help with this.

Get in touch with Paul "Lakesidetrader" Hogle.
He is a fair and honest dealer. Here is a link...

...to his website.

You will get many offers.
Do yourself a favor and establish an arrangment with a man of good reputation.

Very true! Your opening post is an invitation for the "something for nothing brigade" to inundate you with emails. My advice don`t even answer them. Go to a reputable dealer & you will get a fair offer. you also have the option to consign them which may possibly give you a better return.

As suggested I would try lakesidetrader. Paul is a stright up guy & as honest as the day is long.

I agree with the above. A reputable dealer is your best bet if you want to dispose of these items quickly. (Lest anyone misinterpet my offer to help, I only meant that I could help on Federal and State firearms laws.) Invariably some offers to purchase will arrive from those seeking to take advantage of the situation. I would take my time with this . You inherited these things, but do not say from whom. If a parent or grand parent even an uncle, they are probably part of your family's history and you may regret parting with them later on. Just proceed carefully & good luck.

ONE post and NO public profile? Have we seen this movie before? It may be good but consider, if you will....

"I've inherited a bunch of stuff and don't know about it.." Well, maybe it ain't something YOU want to know anything about either. There are entirely too many collectors getting stung by this same 'type' of approach lately to make me comfortable.

Not even a picture? Geez!

When I first saw this I wondered. I have seen quite a few guys join to find out the value of family items. The posts are usually a little vague as the person does not seem to know what they have.

I have also seen a few guys trolling for offers or maybe even running a scam. These tend to be precise as to what they have. Big Grin

This guy says "There are a number of German daggers, uniforms, medals, swords, boots, firearms (lugers, mausers)". He does not want offers from dealers looking to buy the whole bunch, but wants to sell them individually.

Huummmmh! I hadn't considered that either. Unless a scam is blatant I usually give the guy the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise. Izmo, please respond to this thread.

Why are so many people on this site so quick to put down what someone posts? If Izmo was legit, do you really think he would bother posting here again? BTW, I dont know the guy. I do know that every new member starts with 1 post and posting a picture can be a pain in he a$$. just my thoughts...

Posting pics is a simple operation ..... And the suspicions of some members about posts of this nature is justified based on past experience. If IZMO is legit let's hear from him and see some pics ...... Frankly, anyone saying he has a large supply of uniforms, daggers and guns immediately raises my doubts ..... While GIs brought back souvenirs, they normally didn't do it in bulk quantities.

Just my 2 cents worth -

I dont know if his story is true or false. He said the artifacts were from many countries and eras. That would lead me to believe it was someones collection, not a few GI souvenirs. I just think some guys should give people a chance before trying to discredit them.
