Looks like the daggers are out for that poor Heer! Also looks like all or most of your SAs have hangers so . . . are the extra hangers there to encourage you to add more? Wink

I do like the way you've displayed your daggers. ~ Ian

Thanks for the compliments guys. I found the picture hangers to be much less expensive than buying a big display case. All you need is a hammer, hooks measuring tape and a laser level. When I get a new SA I usually clean them with glass plus then Ren Wax them. As far as cleaing them I bought a paint brush and once in a while just brush them off. Some of those daggers did not come with hangers so I bought some and attached them. The other hangers you see there were for that reason but I just havent gotten around to mating them with a dagger.

Very nice, Bob. How do you get them to hang at exactly the same angles ?

Thanks Dave
The picture hook I use is only about 1/8" wide. I hang them from their scabbard suspension rings. The angle they hang is their natural angle. They dont hang at exactly the same angle but very close. I just align them by hand.

Usually they hang a bit different because the weight distribution varies. To avoid having to align them by hand, you can use a pin or needle under the lower scabbard fitting.

Thanks for the tip Dave. They tend to stay where I put them due to the weight of the tip against the wall. I usually only have to realign them if I take them down to play with them.

Nicely displayed Bob.
I eventually hope to be able to also have my daggers displayed on a wall.
Will start the construction of my "bunker room" this winter, down in my basement. Wink
For now, my entire collection sits in this cabinet.

Thanks Pat. Be carefull of the humidity in the basement. When I turned mine into a playroom I cut a hole in oone of the walls just big enough for the face of the dehumidifier to stick out and the rest is ont he otherside of the wall hidden. I then bought a small auto pump that the dehumidifier drains into and pumps the water out of the house, eliminating having to always empty the bucket.

Thats a nice cabinet. Except for my dagger wall everything else resides in a hallway linin closet.

How many daggers are in the cabinet?

Bob, I haven't got all that much, about 40 daggers. I used to have a whole lot more but I have sold about 40 daggers in the last 3 years alone. Only kept the rarest and nicest one. Wink

Among the one's that I have sold, there were 2 Chained SS, 1 SS Himmler, 1 full Rohm SA, 2 early SS EM, 1 Chained NSKK and several SA's, all in a near mint condition.
Also sold recently a mint Knight's Cross.

I'm not really a "type collector" and I didn't see the need to have several SS Himmler's and/or Chained SS daggers.
One of each in a pristine condition is good enought for me. Cool

BTW, just sent this morning to a friend of mine who lives in London (UK), an awesome near mint early SS EM.

Strangely enought, I have never sold any of these daggers on the "FOR SALE" forum but always through private contacts.
It just shows that most daggers are still being sold through "special connections". Wink

Just go back and I thought I'd post this picture of three political daggers hanging in my den. They are supported by the hangers only and,to me, the angle is remarkably consistent. Also note how much more rakish the angle is than with military daggers.
Before someone asks the bottom NSKK dagger has a copper grip eagle that doesn't show up in this picture.
