Gentlemen,

I'm very please to show you my first Army Officer Walking out dress tunic.
I'm mostly an edged weapon collector but I've recently started collecting uniforms of the German Army.
I find these uniforms very beautiful and fascinating.
I especially like it when they come complete with aiguillette, brocade belt and badges.
This uniforms is named and in a mint condition.
All badges and accessories are also original.

Thanks for watching ! Smile

His name was Kurt Weiser, from the 135th Infantry Division.
He won the German Cross in Gold in 1940 during the invasion of Poland and as part of the 100th Jager Regiment.
The 100th Jager Regiment was formed with troops taken from the 135th Infantry Division.
He also participated in the battle of Stalingrad and returned to his original Division when the 100th Jager Regiment was destroyed in 1944.
He ended the war as a Oberleutnant.

Very nice. The fact that it is from a DKiG winner puts this uniform in a class of its own.

Thank you guys for your appreciation and good words.
I would kill to get the picture of this Officer.
I don't know if it is possible or not but I'm certain that his picture must be somewhere in Berlin. Wink

Gaspare, you are right and could indeed add some more awards to this tunic. Cool

I know that he hasn't won any KC but there are 2 buttons underneath his collar, which would suggest that he was also probably awarded some kind of neck award. Confused

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't know how to find out about his badges and awards.

Pat; I think you wanted to write ' Oberstleutnant ' not
' Oberleutnant '.
Anyhow, I got a almost identical tunic to a Oberst 'Metz' from 'Leipzig 'and his shoulderboard has 2 pips and a '5' between them . The righthand sleeve shows the stitchholes for 2 tank destruction badges .Front left side has loops for Iron Cross 1st and Infantry Assault , Long Ribbon/medal bar and 2 higher loops for an Close Combat Bar .The tunic is a very small size .
I have not found out anything about this man , so- my question to you is , where did you get your info on your man from ??? Thanks for any info , Bernd .

Hello Bern and thanks for your interest.
You are absolutely correct and it should have been "Obersleutnant". Wink

Concerning the informations on the Officer, everything came from a friend of mine that has done some research.
In all honesty, I have no expertise and don't really know on how to proceed identifying an Officer.
Everything may be wrong but here's all the info that I have so far.
First, there were only 2 DKiG winners under the name Weiner, one was Kurt and the other was Gerhard, both belonged to the Jager Regiment.
These informations can easily be proven.
The problem was to link any of those names with the one being listed on my tunic.

That was the difficult part.

I called Gustavo and he told me that there was one Weiser being listed in both the 1939 Heer Ranglist (Das Deutche Heer 1939).
However, the Weiser listed in the Ranglist was associated with the 135th Infantry Division, which had nothing to do with any of the Jager Regiments.

This is where I was wrong ! Razz

I have search the web and did find out that the 100th Jager Regiment ( where Kurt Weiser belonged to ) was mostly formed with troops taken within the 135th Division.
What are the probabilities that Kurt Weiser, DKiG recipient, not be the same man as the one being listed in the 135th Infantry Regiment ? Confused

Very unlikely I would think.

I feel confident that the man listed on my tunic may very well be the Kurt Weiser from the Jager Regiment.

Again, I could be wrong but would really appreciate any help on this.
Smile

Thank you !
