Hello GDC members! It's been almost a year since the last Free Raffle so I thought I'd cook up something a little different this time. There will be five winners this time!
The rules will be a bit more specific! Post ONE pic of ONE item ONLY! [it can be your favorite or most interesting, not necessarily most expensive] in ONE of the following catagories: 1-TR Edged Weapons, 2-TR Uniforms, Headgear, Medals, 3-Firearms [All Nations] 4-U.S. and other nations militaria, 5-Anything else your little heart desires that you collect or does'nt fit in the above categories, i.e. flags, documents, etc. [including lawn tractors! No wives or girlfriends, you can e-mail those to me! JUST KIDDING! Big Grin ]
Please! One entry, per person, in ONE category ONLY! Multiple entries will be disqualified. Admin.and Mods.are welcome. Seeing as how pics are limited to one, by all means include written descriptions, history, anything interesting, etc. Winners will be drawn August 31, at midnight.
Have Fun, Good-Luck,and Regards, Leipzig

Fantastic Roger . . . I'm game! I assume that we post it here, so this is mine . . . an NPEA dagger that I purchased here from an excellent member for an incredible price and I am still really enjoying it! ~ Ian

Hello Ian, yes indeed, post 'em right here! A great start with a dagger that's near and dear to my heart! Under-rated IMO, but fascinating! My graduation-marked example appears in Ron W. new book on page 59. Keep 'em coming, guys! Regards, Leipzig

Look in Houston's forum for a thread called Imperial Saufänger, it's on the 1st page for a view of Bill's excellent piece.

My favorite is this Sigrune from Jungbann 201 Herbert Norkus, Berlin Moabit. It was worn in lieu of the standard Oberbann Sigrune patch. This is the only honor titled D.J. Sigrune that I am aware of. The Bann was named after Herbert Norkus became an H.J. blood martyr.

Bann 201 was raised officially August 1, 1933 at Ost Berlin with the name Schoeneberg-Moabit. The Oberbann-color for the HY shoulder-strap piping and the piping for the visored cap was first yellow. This was changed into
black on January 1, 1934. The name for the Bann was changed simultaneously into Moabit. The name Herbert Norkus was granted first to Schar 2 from Gau Berlin on August 8, 1932.

On April 7, 1934 the name Herbert Norkus was granted to Bann 201 and so this name was in use instead of Moabit. For unknown reason the name for the Bann was changed again in Moabit-Schoeneberg on March 1, 1935. The honour-name Norkus was once again granted October 1, 1938.

July 11, 1935 the Jungvolk Jungbann I/201 was raised with the name Moabit- Schoeneberg. The roman number was no longer used after August 1, 1937. The name for the Jungbann remained as it was.
All information comes from the Verordnungsblatt from the Reichsjugendfuehrung.

It's also interseting to note within two weeks of the death of Herbert Norkus, Hitler spoke to the Berlin Hilter Youth at a rally the Tennishalle im Westen. The rally was attended by the SS, the Studentenbund and the Hitler Youth. Hitler peronally greeted and recognized the hero's Moabit camrades. Shortly after the death of Norkus, I'm unsure of the exact date, the flag of Schar 2 Hitler Juegend Beusselkeitz-Hansa became the Blutfahne of the Hitler Jugend.

I collect HJ/DJ shoulder straps and early DJ sigrune patches
