Gentlmen. A person that I know has recently purchased what he believed to be a Robert Klass dagger from timetravelermilitaria.com When I saw the blade in the picture my first impression was "REFUND!!!" Am I correct in this? He has given me permission to post this question here and also permission to display the pictures. Cheers and thanks for your input. http://www.timetravelermilitaria.com/
the dagger is the first one on top

The dagger looks fine to me, typical Klaas in so far as the shape of the grip, scabbard and motto type. Just looks like a really poorly distorted pic, the blade actually looks bigger than the scabbard in the first pic...

The blade actually looks longer than the scabbard, but I think it's an issue with the photo.

Redbaron beat me to it.

wow intersting. what about the spots on the motto. they do not appear to be stains. I thought they were indentations from a bad casting.

I've seen damage like this on many blades. Over all it looks like a decent early SS dagger with a little age that's all. Most that kind of damage comes from the runners in the scabbard and poor storage environment.

The damage is caused by moisture trapped between the runners and blade, which corrodes the blade where they contact. As mentioned, this is seen fairly often in poorly kept blades.

I guess I'm going to have to apologize because I told him it was a fake before consulting here. Its just that the close up of the blade did not convince me. It looked like a poor casting job. I guess we learn something new every day. Cheers

Am i missing something here? All i see is one crappy picture? I cant tell squat from it.

Never argue with an idiot, he will only drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. And remember the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

From that picture, the only certain fact is that the background cloth is red

It's real. It was relatively inexpensive. You can see other pics here: http://www.johnnyg.westhost.com/daggers.html
No, I didn't buy it.

I know the guy who bought it. I just called him and let him know that I was wrong and that he had made a great purchase and lucked out finding such a inexpensive dagger. I wish they were all like that. Wink
