Hi , does this look ok, I am totally confused with this eagle, also is there a reason there would be such a seam looking mark on the left grip. Its a Gottieb Ham... and I know there are tons of fakes, but I want to be sure before I dump the option to buy. Thanks all. Tiep

I dont see any real problem with the grip on this one. The seam you see looks like a wierd lighting effect in the picture. Any other pics of the whole dagger?

Can any of you give me an idea of this dags value? The blade isnt rust ,its grease, been stored 30 yrs. I ask its value because I know hardly anything about these especially untouched specimens I really appreciate any input as I have the opportunity to pick it up. Regards Tiep

I don't see any district mark on the lower cross guard, the grip under the runes has a dent and assuming the blade is excellent under that grease, I would estimate in the $3,500 to $4,000 range perhaps $500.00 more if it cleaned up really well. That's only my personal opinion.

The guy said it looks like 3 ts on the lower back x grd. I will get more photos tomarrow. He isnt good with his camera. Can I soften that dent on the grip weith steam somewhat.? Thanks for the reply by the way all. Tiep

The mark III would be what I was looking for. I do think that the dent could be steamed out somewhat by a competent gunsmith or woodworker. Overall, that is a good looking dagger, assuming only that that old hard grease is going to come off and that blade is really nice underneath all that gunk. Nice hanger as well!

Overall the dagger has nice eye appeal from the outside but the money is in the blade. You need to be real sure it's only grease and it's not going to have grayed areas on the blade after removal. I would not make a price till I could see what I have when cleaned off the blade.
