Bought an Eickhorn SS Dagger today and it came with a paper bag. The owner insisted the paper bag was real??. I immidiately thought its one of those fakes going around... Anyhows I got everything home held it up to the light and it seems to have been stamped with a press with no ink or watermarked with Eickhorn in a few places. Have a look at the pictures to see what I mean.

Fake or real?

Due to what I can see in these pics (and I personally do own several original, period bags, from several makers, some from EICKHORN) I think the bag is not period. Especially there is a certain fault in the printing (I do not want to go into detail due to fakers also watch our forum) and also the paper and the kind how this bag is manfactured does not conform to what I do know from all my bags and what I have seen on other, period bags.
Sorry, regards,

There a lot of those craft paper bags at MAX last year for Army daggers. All fake.

I would not think yours is real, but who knows ? I hope the dagger is real.

Niblet,

No. No show is perfect. Study the subject that interests you, buy books, handle the items and ask lots of questions. Think about it.

Niblet,

Study as much as you can, buy what you feel comfortable with, and when you make a purchase, take it to Dave (Hohaus) and let him authenticate it for you. The way I understand it, if you buy something at the show that turns out to be "falsely advertised" (a.k.a. a fake), the person you purchased it from is required to allow you a refund without question throughout the duration of the show.

"PM" Dave (Hohaus) here and get some contact information from him that you can use while at the show, and let him know that you intend on asking him for your help while you are at the show as well - I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping you out!

Good luck in your time at the MAX!
