Can I have your opinions please...

I think the runes are fake, the scabbard has a bad fitting to lower crossguard, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an SA grip that's been painted black and I'm not confident in the blade.

What do you think?

Oh... the scabbard screws looks to be replaced, well, at least on the bottom. The bottom scabbard fitting looks plated, (so replaced and not matching) and the scabbard itself looks to be repainted.

Scott,

- The dagger fittings have been cleaned if not buffed - look at the shine!

- There are big gaps in the grip-to-crossguard fit. Bigger than one would expect.

- The dagger is not seated in the scabbard. Maybe just the way it was put in.

- The scabbard should be anodized if that is supposed to be a ground Rohm or other early dagger.

- The lower scabbard screws are the later dome top ones normally associated with later daggers.

- The leather marking "L2" is seen by many as NSKK rather than SS

SPD,

I would think it is a parts dagger at best. As you say, looks like grip is painted and does not match crossguard well, it has been apart considering crossguard mark on wrong side, Blade motto looks painted instead of burnishing. Hard to tell but looks like there is no maker's mark. M1936 blade? Also as you mention, the problems with the scabbard. I also agree he Runes look bad and marks around it sugguest rework.

Thanks, Blademan

SDP, I agree with you also about that grip it does look like a dodgy paintover as it does look brown under the black.

SDP , I would suggest a complete mish mash of parts put together to look like an SS.
What colour is the grip on the inside?
